2009 Me vs. 2008 Me

Happy Sunday except I am here at uni doing my third essay in two weeks and still another one for the end of the week. Ah well. Not a bad weekend as one of my friends from home is here visiting. Here is the requisite procrastinatory entry. I've been contemplating in the past few months how different my life in London is compared to Canada. I continue to change and evolve, and I don't even know where I will be in a year from now, back at home maybe, or back here? Or somewhere else entirely hopefully... I'd like another adventure.

Mermaid
A real London entry to come soon.

1. Put your current playlist on shuffle, and pick the first 25 songs that come up (no matter how embarrassing they may be).
2. Write down the first line(s) of the song without including the title in the lyrics.
3. Have some friends comment and see if they know the songs. (NO CHEATING! i.e. No looking up on Google, etc.)

Notes:
11 and 20 are covers.
[info]traceria, you should totally get some of these.

Which books should I take?

  • Sep. 4th, 2008 at 9:49 AM
read

I will have this going on my main blog, but I might as well put one here and use polls. I have been deciding about which books to take and subsequently to read when I move at the end of the month. Since I will not return for the other books for maybe a year, I'm having a hard time deciding which to take with me and read in my time abroad. While I will may buy a couple of books and go to the library, I want to take some books that I own with me, probably around five. Help me out, by choosing the books you think I should take and have not read.

I own all the books below and have not read any of them in full.

Zoom Airlines has suspended operations!

There goes my cheap budget ticket. With less than four weeks til departure, I have to get a refund (through my credit card company?! how?!) and book a flight ASAP which will doubtless cost me more than twice what this one way cost me. I am bummed seriously.

I am still giving notice tomorrow though.

ETA: Called credit card company, am putting in dispute, money likely to be refunded, but not for awhile.

Fandom Meme

Greta Garbo
I have done this meme before, but oh well, here it goes again.

Give me a fandom and I will tell you:

1. The first character I fell in love with.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates.
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer.
6. The character I would shag anytime.
7. The character I'd want to be like.
8. The character I'd slap.
9. A pairing that I love.
10. A pairing that I hate.

You can name more than one fandom and I will choose or do all depending if I'm familiar with the fandoms.

Meme from [info]irinaauthor. For the record, my results are lacking not because I wouldn't want to try things, but due to other mitigating factors (finances, availability, picky friends and family) not of my own accord. There a lot of things on this list I would love to try, and I pretty much eat almost anything at least once. I am definitely going to bookmark this for future food adventures.

1) Copy this list into your blog or journal, including these instructions.
2) Bold all the items you’ve eaten.
3) Cross out any items that you would never consider eating.
4) Make recommendations of specific places/products when possible.

My check in baggage total is 20KG (44 lbs). My backpack alone is already 3.2kg. This is what I get for travelling budget. How in the world will I fit my startup life for 20KG?!

I only slept four hours last night due to a rare case of insomnia.

I discovered [info]film_stills  through someone on my flist and I really wanted to cap a movie because I love movies and I've been keen on capping lately. In my eagerness, I decided to cap the first decently good looking movie I was going to see and today, I watched Jacques Demy's Les Demoiselles de Rochefort (The Young Girls of Rochefort). I love Les Parapluies de Cherbourg a lot more. This movie was not as good as that one, but I do like Demy's work. I like French New Wave as a whole even if a lot of it makes no sense. I like French cinema as a whole though. In any case, I may do this more in the future and I'm crossposting them here and there so that I can share it with my own flist.

Doctor Who review seasons 1-4

Doctor Who
With S4 over, I decided to recap the first four series of new Doctor Who as this show has been one of the few shows I have consistently watched and obsessed over in the last three years. I'll review the series in chronological order. If I don't mention a feature or an episode, assume I liked it or was not so bad I'd deem it bad (and I didn't dislike a lot of things). I love this show, and this is just a review of my last few years with it. To write and picspam this, I did rewatch the episodes or should I say, I rewatched a lot of scenes in each of the series. Also, I don't mention either CE and DT as a feature because that would be redundant as I love both of them and their Doctors very very much.

This is a bit long with pics and spoilers for all four series )

All images screencapped by yours truly.

Two Memes and a Youtube video

Next meme from [info]yemeron:

1) List 5 celebrities you would have sex with without even asking questions.
2) Put them IN ORDER of your lust for them [5 - 1, 1 is the hottest].
3) Supply photos for said people.
4) Say which movie/show/thing it was that hooked you.
5) Tag five people.

Gosh this meme was hard; it took me forever. I hate these things because I'm rather fickle with guys I'd like to shag, and it changes daily so ranking is rather obsolete. It's usually too many too name or I get into situation where my active imagination wonders about it.

Speaking of celebrity shag memes, I found this meme in the archives. Yeah compared to three years ago, my opinion has changed on a lot of those people.

The five and some honourable mentions )

I tag everybody!

Also, I have to totally share this. Juliette Binoche and Gordon Ramsay on The Graham Norton Show. The French kills me dead, and Gordon has a good accent.

I return with a meme as usual

Though I have been checking communities, I have not been on my friends page for months or updated in months. My paid account expires in a couple days and I'm debating about renewing it. I don't even think anyone reads this anymore. I barely know what's going on in real life so I don't know what to do with the LJ. In any case, I started a review of all four series of Doctor Who and I'm going to post that soonish.

Here's a meme since at least this journal is good for that. I liked this.

It is halfway through August, and I still have no bloody idea what to write for my undergrad thesis. I will have to be dedicated to that goal starting Sunday.

My Econ exam is on saturday, and unsurprisingly, having a hard time studying for it. My midterm mark may have helped me become slightly indolent as a result, but at least I am not panicking.

On the good news front, my music library is being rebuilt and I am exercising again including running, yoga, and some pilates (which I skipped today).

There is not enough time in the day for all I want to do.

I acidentally deleted all my iTunes library. I'm not really sure how it happened, but I remember emptying my trash so it went bye bye. I recovered a quarter of it since I had it elswhere on the comp, but all those albums I have to readd, all that work on the files and the albums.

The irony is that I've been thinking about trimming the library lately and dreaming about a video iPod. Oh, cruel music god.

Here's the real HP7 Reaction Post

HP Snape
Now that I've slept after reading the book and then going pubbing, I have some real thoughts.

Frankly, the lead up to this book has been a naf, and in many ways, I'm quite glad it is over. The hype is too much, and I love this series. If there any other books, I could just read it in quiet, but no, spoilers and potterbashing and fandom being peeved at JKR (always always). Whatever. Eight years, and I'm glad

Spoilers - a lot of Snape actually )

On a totally unrelated note, I was shopping the other day and "Mmmbop" by Hanson was playing. I woke up with it stuck in my head this morning. Well, it does remind me of the late 90s I guess. Argh.

And, I'm smug. I called a lot of things.
